What will you charge me to look at it?
A repair is priced from your photographs, before we come out. Send a photograph of the fault, the boiler and the badge on the front of it, and we will tell you what the repair costs.

- Our own work on your heating is covered for 12 months from the day we finish, and what that covers and what it does not is written out in full.

We price the repair from those photographs and put the figure in writing before anyone travels. For a price from photographs sent on WhatsApp, we come back within 2 working hours. That window is for the price. It is not a reply window for anything else you send us, and it is not a time we will be at the door.

We come with the price already agreed and the part already known, because the photographs settled both. Where what we find is not what the photographs showed, we stop and tell you before we carry on.
What are the six things I would ring up to ask about this job?
My boiler keeps losing pressure — is that serious?
Water is going somewhere, and there are only two somewheres: out of the system, or out through the pressure relief valve. A photograph of the gauge and of the discharge pipe where it comes through the outside wall usually tells us which. Send those two and we will price it from them.
I have no hot water but the heating still works — what is that?
On a combi that pattern points at the diverter, which is the valve that sends the heat to the taps instead of the radiators. The heating working is the useful half of the clue, because it proves the burner and the pump are fine. It is a repair rather than a new boiler, and it is priced the way the rest are.
How do you find a leak without pulling the floor up?
Thermal imaging shows where a hot pipe is warming the floor, acoustic kit hears the water escaping, and a pressure test proves the circuit is losing it. Between them they narrow it to about a metre before anything comes up. The work is described above.
One radiator is cold at the bottom — do I need the whole system flushed?
Not always, and it is worth finding out before you pay for one. Where the sludge has settled in one radiator, taking that radiator off and flushing it on its own does the job. Where several are cold at the bottom and the boiler is noisy, the whole system is the honest answer.
I can smell gas — what should I do right now?
Open the doors and windows, shut the gas off at the meter control valve if you know where it is, and do not touch any electrical switch. Then ring the national gas emergency line before you ring anybody else, including us. The number and the rest of the steps are on the safety authority's own page.
Do you work on a boiler you did not fit?
Yes, and most of what we repair is somebody else's installation. The badge on the front tells us the model, and the model tells us the parts. That is why it is one of the photographs we ask for.
